The recent attraction of the Toyota, a global leader in
advanced manufacturing, has forever changed our region’s
manufacturing community and spurred the development of a
stronger and more diverse manufacturing base than the Alamo
area has ever known. That single economic development,
combined with manufacturing’s continued evolution toward
leaner and more advanced operations has created new
opportunities for individuals seeking rewarding “high-skill”
manufacturing careers. From the technology classrooms of
the Alamo Community College District to the lecture halls of
the University of Texas at San Antonio, the region’s
colleges, universities, and technical schools have responded
to the challenges of preparing students to take advantage of
rewarding career opportunities and of building a workforce
to meet the “high-skill” demands of the emerging Advanced
Manufacturing industry cluster.
