A single parent with two children, it was difficult for Krystle Regalado to make ends meet financially, until she enrolled in the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) adult program. After doing some research, Krystle decided to attend a WIOA orientation class and worked with a Career Counselor at the Hondo Workforce Center, Veronica De Leon, to become certified for the WIOA program.

The WIOA program provided Krystle with financial assistance in the amount of $1,600 to pay for Licensed Vocational Nursing school training at St. Phillips College and her textbooks, in addition to transportation assistance in the form of gasoline cards. It only took her five months to achieve her dreams of obtaining full time employment as an LVN, working for Le Parc Safe Haven in Castroville, Texas making $15 per hour working Monday through Friday.


Child Care Success Stories

Homeless, and a single mother of three, Shannon Gomez had no family or support system to help raise her children. She heard about Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) Child Care Services (CCS) and decided to enroll in their daycare services program. After she was approved, Shannon made efficient use of her time to find full time employment. With the help and support of CCS, Shannon is now self-sufficient and raising healthy children on her own.
